Andre Rieu is a Dutch conductor and violinist, known worldwide as the king of “crossover” classical music. Each year, he performs a series of concerts and remains one of the most dominating classical music virtuosos around the globe.
On the 6th of December, Andre Rieu will be performing his 30th Anniversary Tour at the Key Arena in Seattle. The concert is anticipated to be very special. It will be “The Celebration of Music” show where Rieu along with his 55-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra will perform waltzes, polkas, romantic ballads and many other beautiful melodies.
The show starts at 7:30 and should be approximately two hours. The tickets are available at the Key Arena Box Office or can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com as well as by phone toll free at (800) 745-3000. For more information, please visit the Key Arena website: www.keyarena.com.

On May 21st, Seattle Symphony Music Director Gerard Schwarz will lead the Orchestra and local teen soloists in a free community concert 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, in the Seattle City Hall lobby, 600 Fourth Ave. This special performance is part of Seattle Symphony’s ACCESS Project (Artistic and Cultural Community Engagement with Seattle Symphony). ACCESS is dedicated to bringing classical music to communities throughout the region, especially those areas that don’t often have the opportunity to participate.
After the the concert, audience members can mingle with Symphony members at a post-performance reception in City Hall’s Bertha Knight Landes Room.
The Symphony will perform works by our own Seattle Symphony Composer in Residence Samuel Jones, Ernest Bloch, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Tchaikovsky, and Mozart. Featured soloists include University of Washington freshman and violinist Jocelyn Chang, Roosevelt High School senior and flutist Lauren Glass, and Issaquah Pacific Cascade freshman and cellist Karissa Zadinsky.
This will be the fourth year in a tradition started in 2006 where the symphony will play to standing-room-only crowds of more than 300. Don’t miss this opportunity to listen to some of the greatest works of classical music and support the young soloists and the rest of the symphony.
The Moisture Festival is back in Seattle! Since 2004, The Moisture Festival has presented it’s Comedy/Varietè to the people of Seattle every Spring. For those like myself who weren’t familiar with what Comedy/Varietè is, here’s a short explanation.
Comedy/Variete is an intriguing assortment of entertainment. It is often highly skilled performance that’s mixed with many bizarre talents, often humorous and only limited by the imagination. Presented as a variety show, act or artist performs his or her routine for their 3 – 15 minute time slot accompanied by a live show band. Some acts include aerialists, jugglers, comedians, dancers, rope acts, bubble acts, clowns, acrobats, can can girls, strong women, strong men, tap dancers, drill teams, musical numbers, the weird and the wonderful, all keeping in tradition of Comedy/Varietè/Vaudeville alive.
While trying to find out more about the Moisture Festival, here are some fun youtube videos that I ran across. The first being an act from Godrey Daniels the 7 foot tall giant clown with a balloon.
Next was a group called Nanda which seemed very entertaining.
Overall, this festival looks like a lot of fun.
The festival started on March 11 and will run until April 4, 2010, so there’s still time to go see it.
Tickets are on sale at the five venues for Moisture Festival, such as the ACT Theatre, Hale’s Palladium, Open Space for Arts & Community on Vashon Island, Georgetown Ballroom, and the Siff Cinema.
The Seattle Art Museum will be presenting Pablo Picasso’s work starting October 8th 2010 and will continue until January 9th, 2011. Pablo Picasso is one of the most radical and influential artists of the 20th century. The exhibition will showcase nearly every phase of Picasso’s artistry and career. Not only will his paintings be on display, but also his genius, style, unending inventiveness, and unique creative process.
The collection of his paintings will be drawn from the Musee National Picasso in Paris. The Musee National Picasso is the largest repository of Picasso’s work in the world. The exhibition will feature over 150 awe-inspiring paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and photographs. Due to the Musee being closed for renovation, it has allowed the worldwide tour of an event of such unprecedented measure. This is the first, and may very well be, the last opportunity for an event of this nature to occur.
This particular collection of Picasso’s work is especially significant because it represents Picasso’s own personal collection. The paintings and other art that he intended to use to build his own artistic legacy.
This event is an opportunity of a lifetime. Even if you’re not an art buff, it’s a window to the mind of one of this century’s greatest artistic minds. Mark this event for your calendar’s folks.
Don’t miss out on the incredible art show Off The Grid by Igor Kashinskiy! The exhibition features abstract art and highlights the career of Igor Kashinskiy, a brilliant modern artist in Seattle. The exhibition will take place at Patricia Cameron Gallery from January 6th to February 6th, 2010. The Gallery will host an artist’s reception on January 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. During the reception, visitors will get the chance to meet with the artist while enjoying wine, music, and conversation.
